Please share your experience ~ National Certification for Teachers

Sorry I haven't posted anything recently. I have been super busy with assessments, trainings, my own masters class, and my lovely family. If there are any common core experts out there please let me know what materials you use to teach the common core math standards.

I wanted to see if anyone out there in our blogging community has gone through the National Certification for Teachers. I was curious to know about the experience.

Also a big THANK YOU to those of you who have been blogging about the Daily 5. I have always wanted to try it and this might finally be the year I get to implement it. I'm still trying to figure out how to do it and still cover our grade level reading text.

  1. This is my first year in first and wasn't sure how it would work (especially after teaching 3rd for 6 years)! Start slow, build stamina, and the kids CAN do it! You'll need to do lots of modeling and practicing. I've added more to the D5. I have a poetry center where kids do poetry art, a science center that focuses on our theme, and laptops for Raz-Kids. I'm quite impressed with how well they do and they're SOOO independent!

I will say it's A LOT of work in the beginning getting different activities ready but I'll be ready for next year!

  3. I went through the National Board Certification process back in 2004. It's been a while, but I can try to answer any questions you have. I also have a few friends who have gone through it as well, so if I don't know the answer I can probably find it! Feel free to email me:
