Emergency Sub Plans - What do you use?

I just had to call in for a sub at the last minute and wouldn't you know it my plans are here and not at work. I have to tweek them and possibly have to tap into some emergency plans I bought online a while back.

My hubby is "Mr.Mom" and he is feeling very sick. So I think I'll be spending time actually being nurse and mom tomorrow. I keep asking him if I can get him anything and well, I'll ask when he isn't blowing chunks, sorry, I know. T.M.I.

What do you do when you have to call a sub at the last minute? Do you have any great resources to share?

The three literature based emergency plans I bought are from The Teacher's Clubhouse. I have never had to use them until now. I'll let you know if they actually workout.

Please share your experience ~ National Certification for Teachers

Sorry I haven't posted anything recently. I have been super busy with assessments, trainings, my own masters class, and my lovely family. If there are any common core experts out there please let me know what materials you use to teach the common core math standards.

I wanted to see if anyone out there in our blogging community has gone through the National Certification for Teachers. I was curious to know about the experience.

Also a big THANK YOU to those of you who have been blogging about the Daily 5. I have always wanted to try it and this might finally be the year I get to implement it. I'm still trying to figure out how to do it and still cover our grade level reading text.

Mother's Day Gift

I need to vent just a bit.

We only have 23 school days left. Which is great! Unfortunately I have so many "trainings" to go to and I have to do my practicum class for my masters program so I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Okay with that out of the way, here is a craft I love.

Well this year I will not be able to make what I like to make for Mother's Day. It is bad planning on my part, but I thought I'd share. It isn't a new idea, I've had the kids make them for several years.

Bath Salts for Mom.

I use either baby food jars or Starbucks coffee bottles. I take the labels off and the kids mix the bath salt, baking soda and essential oil. Last but not least they add food coloring. They have a blast and then they get to choose their colors when they fill the bottle up. I like to layer them like sand art. But my kids seem to love it all mixed up. We attach a little poem and instructions with a ribbon.

It never occurred to me to take a picture of our finished project so I hope the above pictures help you visualize it.

Reading- Super Summary

I have one more story in our Reading series and then I'll be doing a chapter book with my students. I got this wonderful idea from my Co-Teacher to use for the students to summarize as we read. I hope you can use it.

I made a cover for the girls and one for the boys. The little boxes are for a picture representation of the vocabulary word.

Don't forget about my giveaway!
